The master plan is vital to understand community needs and will serve as a critical resource for planning, programming, land acquisition, park and trail development, construction and maintenance of recreational spaces, and coordination of potential partnerships. The plan will also strategize fee policy, effective funding allocation and sources, and include a prioritized list for improvements, including programs, facilities, trails and preservation of lands for recreational open space through the development of a prioritized action plan, digital database and multiple communication tools. It will also explore branding opportunities for the department and improved messaging with the community. Ultimately, the Parks and Recreation System Master Plan will serve as a living document to assist staff in finding solutions to meet the community’s recreation and social needs well into the future.
