Zipp Family Sports Park

When the Zipp family donated their 153-acre ranch for a new sports park, the City of New Braunfels envisioned not just a new era of community play but the embodiment of a legacy. Focused on tournament level baseball, softball and soccer fields, the park delivers a new level of high-performing design that accommodates all levels of athletes. Topographically complex, the site is tiered for individual sports types using the natural land form and supporting sustainable natural drainage. Integrated into the surrounding neighborhood, Zipp Family Sports Park is a natural gathering place for this tight-knit community to play together.

The team explored every option to bring one of the fastest-growing Texas communities up to speed with a top-tier playing field experience.

We created a two-phased approach to address the full 153 acres with an equitable plan that provided for future growth and aligned multiple levels of approval.

Our design worked with the strong natural land form to save money, create a sustainable support system and integrate the land’s natural beauty with the surrounding neighborhood.

The sports park is focused on the community’s kids as they have fun, master their sport and enjoy a high-quality place to play.

The local EDF invested $15 million to develop 12-15 acres commercially to support the park and the surrounding neighborhood.

Sustainably focused design and imaginative irrigation reduce operations and maintenance costs to provide increased funds for park development.
