Foote’s Rest Hotel
Foote’s Rest is a Tribute Portfolio hotel within Marriott’s independent collection of brands. Located in downtown Frisco, Colorado, this boutique hotel is nestled between stunning mountain peaks and a majestic alpine lake. With 77 keys spanning an entire block along the heart of Main Street, the project continues the property’s legacy as a community gathering place while filling a market gap in lodging and dining in central Summit County. Norris Design led the planning, landscape architecture and branding process, shaping the site experience from early strategy and identity through detailed design.

Site planning includes the preservation of historic cabins nestled along Main Street within a public plaza, creating an open and engaging threshold between the hotel, restaurant and downtown. The experience was designed to celebrate and explore the town’s social and eclectic culture and share it with guests and locals alike.

The brand identity pays homage to the site’s former use as a post office and features subtle scalloped edges cut out of the wordmark to tell part of that story. A complementary suite of alternative icons lean into that heritage in different ways, giving the brand system greater flexibility. Interior design is inspired by the warmth and character of the Foote Family hearth, welcoming guests into a living room-like lobby. Landscape architecture reflects Frisco’s mining heritage and mountain mindset while making room for locals to live alongside visitors in spaces designed for all four seasons.

Our team also developed the ideas and brand identities for three on-premises food and beverage concepts: Hearth & Bellows, Wildhacks, and The Blacksmith Saloon. Foote’s Rest represents a glowing beacon in the wilderness where travelers near and far come to make camp, warm their boots, sip a beer or two, and swap tales of adventure with a friendly stranger. It is a fitting tribute to a community where guests are treated like family, stories become legacies, and every journey is celebrated by a warm fire with the fun-loving spirit of Frisco.
