Norris Design Principal Mary Estes Elected ASLA Arizona Chapter President

Posted on April 10, 2021

Recently, Norris Design Principal Mary Estes, PLA, SITES® AP, LEED® AP was elected President of the Arizona Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). A member since 1999, Mary has enjoyed supporting the organization’s mission of advancing landscape architecture through advocacy, communication, education and fellowship.

This past year has been particularly challenging and the Arizona Chapter, like many similar professional organizations, was impacted by the cancellation of many events or the sudden need to convert events to a virtual format. As the Chapter looks forward to 2021 and beyond, Mary explains that she doesn’t “believe that we will go back to normal — instead, we’ll move forward together towards a new normal.” She looks forward to better days and working with the Arizona Chapter membership to figure out what that new normal looks like.

As President of the Arizona Chapter, Mary gives back to the profession, the Society and to the state of Arizona by promoting the organization’s efforts, raising the visibility of the profession and motivating industry professionals to become more involved in these activities through membership and volunteer opportunities. She also promotes upholding licensure standards and was the first licensed Landscape Architect in the state of Arizona to receive the SITES® AP credential, which establishes a common framework to define the profession of sustainable landscape design and development.

Norris Design is a proud supporter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Throughout our 36 years in business, countless Norris Design employees have volunteered in some capacity for Chapters across the nation.
