Cobblestone Ranch Grand Opening

Posted on September 13, 2022

Earlier this summer, Norris Design and the Town of Castle Rock celebrated the grand opening of Cobblestone Ranch Park. The event was a great success and well-attended by the community. Festivities included carnival games, aerobatics, live music, food trucks and a 5k run. The ceremony also included a keynote address from Mayor Jason Gray, District 2 Councilmember, Laura Cavey, and Director of Parks and Recreation, Jeff Brauer.

We’ve been working with the Town of Castle Rock on this project for a long time. It’s been gratifying knowing all the time we spent getting this project ready for construction — working with the community, making sure each element is designed thoughtfully, drawing the details precisely — has been well spent, creating an interesting and hopefully well-used public space. Seeing this project come to life has been incredibly exciting and rewarding. Leah Bryant, Project Manager

Based on community feedback, Castle Rock Town Council selected Cobblestone Ranch as the next park to be developed, allocating $4 million to develop a roughly 10-acre parcel as the first phase of the park. An overall master plan for the site was also completed before design of the neighborhood component began.

Norris Design started the master planning process by presenting opportunities and constraints at an open house event in August 2019. The Town’s Park Planning staff, along with the design team, held a brief hands-on design discussion and collected resident feedback. Two concept boards were presented to help attendees brainstorm and discuss potential ideas. Approximately 120 people attended the open house and 136 respondents filled out an online survey. Norris Design integrated the responses along with the feedback from the open house to develop a tentative master park plan. The first phase of Cobblestone Ranch Park includes picnic areas, a large playground, a pump track for biking, a half-court for basketball, six pickleball courts and a green lawn.
