Posted on June 22, 2020

AZRE’s Real Estate and Development (RED) Awards is the largest commercial real estate event in Arizona, honoring the brokers, architects, contractors and developers of notable commercial development projects throughout the state. Norris Design is honored to have contributed to the following 2020 AZRE RED award-winning projects..

Banner University Medical Center Tucson, Tucson, Arizona
Healthcare Project of the Year

With the acquisition of the University of Arizona Medical Center, Banner Health developed a 587-bed state-of-the-art hospital. Norris Design prepared the planned area development (PAD) submittal document; the hardscape, landscape and irrigation design drawings; and construction documents for the new medical center. The design connects the new facility to its neighboring community through urban trails and public transit. At the site’s north end, a large retention basin captures stormwater runoff before flowing into the adjacent neighborhood and serves as a park amenity.

GEICO Regional Headquarters, Tucson, Arizona
Office Project of the Year (100K SF to 300K SF)

GEICO’s new regional headquarters is centrally located at Tucson Marketplace, a commercial and retail district within The Bridges mixed-use development. Norris Design provided landscape architectural services for the 200,000 SF site, keeping in mind employee needs and also ensuring cohesion with the district. The landscape design extends along bands of the building’s elevation and creates a multi-use area for an outdoor café, meetings and corporate events. Natural elements on the building’s east side make a less formal space for employees to enjoy and work outdoors.

SUPIMA, Tempe, Arizona
Office Project of the Year (less than 100K SF)

Supima is a nonprofit trade association that has promoted the use of U.S. grown cotton around the world since 1954. Norris Design created a one-of-a-kind courtyard area connecting dual, two-story office buildings at its new headquarters in Tempe, Arizona. Unique features and raw materials reference Supima’s historic mission and provide space for entertaining guests and clients. Cotton gin planters hold native plants, while a historic canal irrigation valve box serves as a wayfinding feature. Flex spaces are paved with porcelain tile and white decomposed granite.

The LINK PHX, Phoenix, Arizona
Multifamily Project of the Year

At over 30 stories tall, The LINK PHX is the second tallest residential tower in Downtown Phoenix and hosts the tallest pool deck in Arizona on its 30th floor. The rooftop courtyard also offers a spa, fire feature, lounge seating, outdoor kitchen and game tables. The 8th floor amenity courtyards include a second outdoor kitchen, fire feature, dog park, yoga lawn and indoor/outdoor fitness center. A lush, shaded streetscape with public seating nodes serves as an entrance to the building’s leasing office and several ground-level retail tenants.
