Colorado APA Awards

Norris Design is honored to be part of the project team working on Alta Verde, which received the American Planning Association, Colorado Chapter’s 2022 Merit Award for Sustainability and Environmental Planning. This award recognizes advancement in green design and planning. We look forward to continuing our efforts at this site, alongside Gorman & Company and the Town of Breckenridge.

Norris Design is working with the Town of Breckenridge and Gorman on Alta Verde, a two-phase, net zero affordable housing neighborhood funded by a 9% Low-income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) award from Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA). The 4-acre site is a catalyst project for the McCain Property, owned by the Town and master planned for municipal, housing, commercial, parks and recreation, and school uses.

Alta Verde features xeric landscape design and offers connection to the Blue River and community amenities, such as a playground, walking trails and a dog park. The neighborhood is also close to multi-modal transportation like the Blue River Bikeway, Summit Stage and Breck Free Ride bus stops. Construction is currently underway, and Phase I is set to open in December.
