Mountain Line Downtown Connection Center wins Three Engineering News-Record (ENR) Southwest Awards
We’re proud to announce that the Mountain Line Downtown Connection Center in Flagstaff, Arizona, has been recognized with three prestigious honors from Engineering News-Record (ENR) Southwest: Best Airport/Transit Project, Excellence in Sustainability, and Project of the Year Finalist (2025).
For more than 25 years, ENR Southwest has celebrated the region’s most outstanding achievements in design and construction across Arizona and New Mexico. This year, judges selected three exceptional projects as Project of the Year finalists, while experts in safety and sustainability highlighted additional standouts; including the Downtown Connection Center.
To address long-standing capacity challenges, the Mountain Line transit agency is reimagining its headquarters as a civic-minded space that not only supports bus and mass transit needs, but also provides a new venue for community meetings and events. Norris Design is leading the planning and design of the civic spaces surrounding the facility. Our vision creates a universally accessible circulation system of ramps and steps, integrates design details that echo the architecture of the building, and incorporates a sculptural art installation to anchor the plaza.
We’re honored to collaborate with our partners, clients, and colleagues on this next-generation community hub. This recognition reaffirms our commitment to sustainability, placemaking, and designing spaces that serve both people and place. Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this transformative project to life!
