The Founders Therapeutic Garden

Bisbee, Arizona

With the goal of creating a natural park space to provide enrichment to their clients, employees, staff and the surrounding community, Norris Design collaborated with Premier Alliances on this 30,000 sf site within their larger 3-acre campus. Premier Alliances sought a garden with varied interactive and passive experiences to help further their mission of improving the lives of people with disabilities. The Norris Design team led stakeholder meetings to identify opportunities and goals, providing a clear vision for the development of the schematic design and the synthesis of a final Master Plan.

Many park elements offer tactile stimulation along with water for a calming effect, plants to provide soothing fragrances and various places to rest and watch the birds or other wildlife. These spaces are organized around a clearly defined, accessible circulation path, creating opportunities for intimate nodes and larger spaces for special events and gatherings. The result provides a natural environment integrated into the built environment, creating a multi-faceted garden that provides therapeutic opportunities for all. The Master Plan and 3D graphics created by the design team are currently being used to generate donations to construct the garden.
