Our Story
History
Ours is a unique story that deserves to be told. John Norris and Jim Dullea were studio-mates in Seaton Hall in the College of Architecture and Design at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. Both came to Denver as aspiring interns in the summer of 1980 and returned the following year as entry-level landscape architects. After gaining invaluable experience at different firms, they combined Jim’s land planning talents with John’s more traditional landscape architecture skills to form NORRIS DULLEA in 1991. The honest, straightforward and reliable demeanor found today at Norris Design was embodied in the early, formative years of the firm.

Our Company has gradually grown to meet the needs of a growing client base and continues to provide opportunities for advancement of our staff. After 22 years of providing industry recognized community planning and landscape architecture services, Jim Dullea decided to leave the realm of consulting in 2002 subsequently resulting in our name change from Norris Dullea to Norris Design in 2005.

In 2005 we expanded geographically with the opening of an office in Tucson, Arizona and our Denver office moved into a 23,000 square foot building located in the Golden Triangle. In the summer of 2006, a suburban Chicago office opened as well as an office in Phoenix, Arizona to provide the same high quality services available in Denver and Tucson.

Our Company will continue to grow only as existing and new clients continue to provide new opportunities for us to take advantage of through hard work and good design principles. The same attributes found in The Norris Dullea Company in 1991 are clearly embodied in our present-day staff although much has changed. Our portfolio of successful projects represents major expansion in staff numbers, talents and disciplines. But through all the changes, it’s the same characteristics of hard work, integrity, perseverance, creativity, innovation and sincerity that are embodied in the staff of today and will serve as the hallmark of our future successes.
