Norris Design Named DPS CareerConnect Spark Partner of the Year
Norris Design was named a Denver Public Schools (DPS) CareerConnect Spark Partner of the Year. DPS CareerConnect offers students relevant courses while connecting them with partner companies and higher education institutions for hands-on workplace exposure and mentoring. The program equips graduates with in-demand skills and leads to opportunities for continued education and careers in Colorado’s highest-opportunity industries.
In collaboration with Harris Kocher Smith, Norris Design staff guided 12 middle school students from Greenwood Academy as they designed their own master planned communities and built water treatment systems. Using tools of the trade such as site plans and models, the students learned the fundamentals of planning design and the importance of storm water management. Norris Design Associates Samantha Crowder and Tom Ellenwood, who helped plan and lead the day program, accepted the award at the DPS CareerConnect Celebration of Partner Impact Awards Breakfast last week.
